Review: A very excellent book to talk about various things that a
child is thankful for.
Activity: After reading "Thanksgiving Is For Giving" (or any other
book about giving thanks), on a piece of paper, have the child draw
(and write) what he/she is thankful for.

We can be thankful for lots of things. Have the children tell you
what they are thankful for and sing it in the song. Some
examples are (food, clothes, family, friends, etc.). Have the

Make (or prepare) something to eat at your feast.
Dramatic Play
Feast
Close your eyes. Pretend we are all gathered together with
the Pilgrims and Native Americans at a big table ready to eat a
big feast (a meal). Pretend you are eating a turkey leg.
Pretend you are eating some corn on the cob. Pretend you are
eating a piece of bread with honey on it. ...
Now open your eyes and let’s have our own “Feast”.
Have a feast with different kinds of foods you prepared before the
dramatic play time (fruit, vegetable, bread, etc.).
Vocabulary Writing Activity
Have the child write the word THANKSGIVING on a piece of
paper. Have the child come up with as many words as s/he can
using that word.
Writing Activity
Have the child brainstorm of what s/he is thankful for.
Write a sentence (or more) on a piece of paper.
Illustrate. (You can put this on a turkey pattern, Pilgrim,
or other pattern.)
For older children, have them write a paragraph(s) or essay on
what he/she is thankful for. Illustrate.

What do you think the Pilgrims and the Native Americans ate on the
First Thanksgiving (in 1621)?
If you like, you can discuss what the Native Americans (using the
above questions).
