Carnival of Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns
You can do each of these animals at different times.  For older children, talk about the animals and play the music

The Aquarium
1.  Talk about fish.
2.  Make a fish craft - puppet.
3.  Play Carnival of Animals: Aquarium: MP3 Downloads by Camille Saint-Saëns.


When the children are listening to the music, have them use the fish they made and pretend they are fish swimming in water.
4. Have the children listen to the music, have them listen for the different instruments being played, have them identify which instruments are being played, and have them use the hand with their fish  on it as the music goes up and down the music scale.

The Kangaroo
1.  Talk about kangaroos.
2.  Make a jumping kangaroo.  If you don't want to use those, go to Kangaroo Coloring Page @ Alphabet Soup or Kangaroo and Baby for mother and baby to color.  You can make these kangaroo puppets by taping a craft stick on the back of the animal.
3.  Play Carnival of Animals: Kangaroos: MP3 Downloads by Camille Saint-Saëns.


When the children are listenig to "Kangaroos" have them jump around like kangaroos or have them use their stick puppets.
4.  Have the children listen to the music, have them listen for the different instruments being played, and have them identify which instruments are being played.

The Elephant
1.  Talk about elephants.
2.  Make the Elephant Craft (toilet paper) @ DLTK-Kids or use any of the color pages located at The Letter Ee.  You can make the coloring pages a stick puppet if you reduce the size of the elephant or elephants and place a craft stick on the back of the animal.
3.  Play Carnival of Animals: The Elephant: MP3 Downloads by Camille Saint-Saëns.


4.  When the children are listening to the music, have them pretend to be elephants. Have them put one arm in front of them as if it were an elephant trunk or use their stick puppets.
5.  Have the children listen to the music, have them listen for the different instruments being played, and have them identify which instruments are being played.

Ballet of the Chickens in Their Shells/Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks

1.  Talk about chickens and chicks.
2.  Make a chick craft or a "chick puppet" located at: DLTK's Kids Easter Chick Crafts, Easter & Spring Theme: Chick Puppet or Animal Coloring Pages - Chick hatching out of an egg.
3.  Play Pictures at Exhibition: V. Ballet des poussins dans leurs coques.

4.  When the children are listening to the music, have them walk around like baby chicks (if there is not enough of space to walk around, have them sit in their chairs); with their elbows bent and hands near their arm pits.
5.  Have the children listen to the music, have them listen for the different instruments being played, have them identify which instruments are being played, and have them use their hands as the music goes up and down the music scale.
